Hello there, this is Eric reporting from the island of misfit toys :) Just realized one year ago today, the music video for “Sing for me” by Yellowcard was released. The video allowed me to share a dark secret of mine. I’m an actor so being in front of a camera like that, so real and raw wasn’t easy. I had no character or script to hide behind. Just myself and the truth. I was so nervous as to how people would look at me, if they’d think I was crazy or not. But what I didn’t know was that I was about to light the match that ignited the flame…I had captured peoples attention long enough to educate them on depression in teens, suicide and self mutilation. I get emails and tweets all the time from teenagers just like me who tell me that they aren’t ashamed anymore, that they were able to be honest with people and get help. The video inspired the launch of my own anti suicide bracelets and I am now working with an organization called “MY LIFE MY POWER” where I filmed my own PSA about suicide awareness. The organization uses actors, models, athletes and business leaders to share our stories on all real world issues and is now apart of the school curriculum in ALL Los Angeles and Phoenix schools and I am currently working with CUSD trying to get the program started up in Fresno, Ca schools :) Yes I am still acting, just not as aggressively as I should, school is my main focus right now…I am a Child Psychology major in college. I would love to help children and teens just like myself. The yellowcard music video is one of the things i am most proud of. Late at night or early mornings when I watch MTV or VH1 and “sing for me” comes on I smile and thank god for that opportunity. Thank you to everyone for the continue support and well wishes. Shout out to my entire #YCFAM on twitter. Remember to never be silent about the things that matter most to you. We all have a purpose…god makes no mistakes. Don’t deny the world of your presence! Things always get better, I know this from personal experience. I look forward to being back on your TV screens and entertaining you in the near future :) peace, love, and empathy
